About the course. Design for Climate is a master-level architectural design studio exploring how energy, climate, and sustainability can become integral drivers of architectural design. In Spring 2023, students worked on the transformation and densification of the Farbhof residential ensemble in Zurich, with the aim of adapting it to a changing climate while minimizing overall emissions. Through an integrated design process, students investigated local climate and comfort, energy demand, construction and materials, passive and active strategies, and their interactions with architectural form. Quantitative analysis and environmental simulation tools were used throughout the semester to inform and iteratively evaluate design decisions.
My role:  As part of the Architecture and Building Systems teaching team, I provided technical supervision and supported students in integrating environmental analysis and simulation into their architectural design process. I guided students in the use and interpretation of computational tools​​ and provided technical feedback as their projects developed. I closely supported several student teams, including the project by Marino Weber and Janis Stainhauser, which was later exhibited in Architecture and Energy at the German Architecture Museum (DAM) in Frankfurt in 2025.
